DIGITAL ACADEMY FOR PARENTS: Handing out Certificates
On 8th May 2024, the closing ceremony of the second Digital Academy for Parents of the Aver-o-Mar School Group took place.
The Digital Academy for Parents Programme is an initiative of E-REDES in partnership with the Directorate-General for Education (DGE). It is aimed at parents/guardians of pupils attending primary and secondary schools. Its aim is to equip families with basic digital skills, which are essential in today’s society and which make it easier for them to keep up with their children’s schoolwork.
This programme is now in its 4th edition and this school year 214 school groups were involved in this initiative. Our school group joined this initiative for the first time in the 2022/2023 school year and has continued to be part of the Digital Academy for Parents network of schools ever since. Although it has been difficult to attract parents/guardians to come to school and attend these training programmes, we have managed to set up two classes in the Level II – Digital Security and Citizenship course. We should highlight the resilience of the trainees, who have always shown an interest in assimilating digital skills and have been persistent in their learning.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Mayor, Dr Luís Diamantino, the school headmaster, Professor Carlos Sá and the deputy headmaster, Professor Helena Costa. Certificates of participation were presented to the trainees, the trainers and the school.
In the next school year, we will continue these two classes with the Level III Digital Consumer course and, if there are more parents/carers interested, we will open new classes.
